First donation of one billion Guinean francs from UMS & Consortium SMB-WAP to ANSS

UMS and the SMB-WAP Consortium make a first donation of one billion Guinean francs to support the action of the National Health Security Agency

As part of the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, UMS and the SMB-WAP Consortium made a donation of one billion Guinean francs to support the action of the National Agency for Health Security (ANSS in Guinea) of the Republic of Guinea. This is a first emergency contribution to allow the ANSS to quickly respond to current needs in order to slow the spread of the virus, which is still weakly present in Guinea.

The ANSS plays a strategic role by being in charge of implementing the strategic directions of the Ministry of Health in matters of health security. The agency is currently headed by Dr. Sakoba Keita, an epidemiologist known worldwide for his expertise since the Ebola outbreak.

In order to support the action of the ANSS throughout the crisis, UMS and the SMB-WAP Consortium will make other donations and are reflecting with the health authorities on more general support. The objective of the engagement of UMS and the SMB-WAP Consortium is to enable the strengthening of the capacities and means of hospitals and clinics in Conakry and Boké, by providing financial and logistic support.

“The private sector must mobilize and coordinate with the health authorities to face this pandemic which is sparing no country,” said Fadi Wazni, CEO of UMS and chairman of the board of directors of the SMB-WAP Consortium. I have had the good fortune of collaborating with Doctor Keita in the past during the Ebola crisis, and I am confident in Guinea’s ability to overcome this new ordeal. As corporate citizens, UMS and the SMB-WAP Consortium will respond during this crisis to support the work of health authorities and the medical profession. “
